Bass Rock
in the Firth of Forth is situated near to North Berwick. The volcanic rock rises 106 meters above sea level, has a circumference of 1 mile and has three sides of sheer rock.
A natural tunnel runs through the rock which is only accessible at low tide.
Bass rock has a rich history and has been used as a castle, a prison and a hermitage. It is now home and a nesting ground to thousands of seabirds, including one of the largest colonies of garnets.
