There are over 180,000 different kinds of butterflies and moths that can be found on every continent except for Antarctica.
There are around 59 species of butterflies
which are seen regularly in the UK. 57 of these are resident species to the UK and two types of butterfly, the painted lady and the clouded yellow, migrate here in the summer to mate.
Butterfly wings are made up of tiny scales with vibrant colours and patterns.
