Brig o'Doon is also referred to as the Old Bridge of Doon or Auld Brig and is situated in Alloway in Ayrshire, Scotland. This late medieval cobbled bridge crosses the River Doon and provided the setting for one of Robert Burns most famous works, Tam O'Shanter.
Tam O'Shanter raced on horseback over the Brig o'Doon whilst fleeing from witches and warlocks. Legend says they are not allowed to cross water.
This landmark has it's narrow arched bridge featured on a Scottish £5 note.
