Cathedral Coventry postcard is by North East artist Emily Ward from her art portfolio of Newcastle.
A dazzling bright and warming sun wakes up behind the impressive Gothic spire of Coventry Cathedral on Emily Ward's art postcard. The sunlight shines brightly over the stained glass windows of this historic cathedral.
Red poppies grow wildly in the forefront amongst the long blades of grass which have been given a lovely hint of blue and yellow.

The new Cathedral of St Michael
stands proudly next to the ruins of the cathedral destroyed during the Coventry Blitz during the Second World War. The new cathedral was designed by Sir Basil Spence and the foundation stone was laid by Queen Elizabeth II on 23rd March 1956.
The cathedral was built adjacent to the bombed ruins as a reminder of the destruction of war and a symbol for peace and reconciliation. The cathedral features works by some of the greatest artists of the 1950’s and 60’s.
You can still climb the 295ft Gothic Tower which survived the bombing, where you can get a magnificent view from the third highest Cathedral spire in the UK. Work commenced on building the tower in 1373 and it took 20 years to complete.
