The bright morning sun casts a warming glow over Coventry Cathedral and it's ruins.
Sunlight glistens off the ornate stained glass windows and reflects over the newer architecture of the cathedral. A beautiful abundance of vibrant poppies covers the road in front of Coventry Cathedral.

The Cathedral of St Michael stands proudly next to the ruins of the cathedral destroyed during the Coventry Blitz during the Second World War. The third cathedral in Coventry was designed by Sir Basil Spence and the foundation stone was laid by Queen Elizabeth II on 23rd March 1956.
The Great West Window is suspended from the roof.
The cathedral was built adjacent to the bombed ruins as a reminder of the destruction of war and a symbol for peace and reconciliation. The cathedral features works by some of the greatest artists of the 1950’s and 60’s, including a huge tapestry designed by the artist Graham Sutherland.
You can still climb the 295ft Gothic Tower which survived the bombing, where you can get a magnificent view from the third highest Cathedral tower in the UK.
