Cullercoats Harbour print was an original painting firstly by local North East artist Emily Ward. Emily’s beautiful picture of this horseshoe bay shows the sea spray splashing off the small cliffs in front of the active RNLI station and Cullercoats Watch Tower.
Golden sands and warm inviting blues have been used to capture this pretty sandy bay. St George's church can be seen in the backdrop nestled behind the luscious green bankside and old fishing cottages.
About Cullercoats Harbour
Cullercoats is a sandy crescent shaped bay, is one of many beautiful beaches in North Tyneside. Enclosed by two small piers making it quite a safe haven for families. Once a thriving fishing port in the 1800’s small parts of that legacy can be seen around the bay and seafront today. Cullercoats became quite a popular artists’ colony in the 19th century.
Nowadays the south of the bay is used by paddle boarders and recreational crafts. Dove Marine Laboratory, a research centre for Newcastle University School of Marine Science is located in the bay.
