Dark Hedges, Ballymoney Framed Ceramic Tile
Dark Hedges, Ballymoney Framed Ceramic Tile
Dark Hedges, Ballymoney framed ceramic tile has been designed from original artwork by North East artist Emily Ward. All ceramic tiles are printed and hand pressed in Emily's art studio, where she hand finishes every tile.
Sunlight peeps through the mature knarled beech trees on Emily's framed art ceramic tile wall decoration. You can really imagine walking along the narrow pathway through the eerie tunnel of trees.
The varied shading through the interlocking branches adds to the mystery of this magical avenue of trees. The rich greens of the leaves are peppered with a pop of colourful paint splashes.
Emily's hand pressed ceramic tile is available in a white or black frame.

The Dark Hedges, Ballymoney
The Dark Hedges is an avenue of mature beech trees which were planted around 1775 by James Stuart. The trees were intended to frame the driveway leading to his home, Gracehill House. The trees, originally around 150, line both sides of Bregagh Road, forming an imposing tunnel of trees that intertwine and entangle to create a spectacular fusion of light and shadow.
The Dark Hedges are found in County Antrim in Northern Ireland between the villages of Armoy and Stranocum, around a 10-minute drive from Ballymoney
A tree preservation order was placed on the trees in 2004 to enable the preservation and maintenance of them. In 2009 the Dark Hedges Preservation Trust was formed. in 2016 there was only about 90 of the original 150 trees planted by the Stuart family.
