Durham Cathedral is a Church of England cathedral, formally known as Cathedral Church of Christ, Blessed Mary the Virgin and St Cuthbert of Durham.
The Gothic Cathedral lies within the precinct of Durham Castle in County Durham in the North East. It was first constructed in the late eleventh century and houses the shrine of St Cuthbert.
It is the largest and finest example of Norman architecture in England.
Durham Cathedral featured in the first two Harry Potter films, Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets, as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
