About Ocean Park
Ocean Beach Pleasure Park became a lasting fixture around 1899, the first permanent ride, called the Aerial Flight, was installed around 1910 -192 . Originally it was the site for travelling fairground rides in the summer months.
In its heyday in Victorian days thousands of visitors flocked to South Shields for the funfair, making this stretch of coastline in South Tyneside a popular tourist resort.
