Frem on the Tyne framed ceramic tile was painted by local North East artist Emily Ward, originally as a commission. Inspired by a local North Shields fisherman who asked Emily to paint his pride and joy, his fishing boat, the painting was turned into a gift range for all to enjoy.
Emily captures both the power of the waves and the determination of the boat in the sea. Her use of paint splatters creates the effect of sea spray caused by the relentless waves. The dark grey sky also contrasts well with the deep blue waves, with a reminder of the rough choppy seas of a cold morning.
Also seen in the painting are the two piers of the Mouth of the Tyne, illuminated by crashing waves. The boat is working hard to get back to the Fish Quay of North Shields and away from the coming storm.
Frem on the Tyne is available in a variety of prints and gifts and can be found HERE.
Ceramic Framed Tile
Each Framed Tile is hand finished by North East Artist Emily Ward. So although your ceramic framed tile is actually a print, no two tiles are identical. Emily hand finishes the tiles by adding extra paint to the ceramic tile.
The framed tile appears as if it is floating inside the frame.
Frames are available in White and Black Frames.
Each frame is 27 x 27 x 5cm
Colours may vary as each tile is printed individually.
