Gearrannan Blackhouses, Isle of Lewis postcard has been produced from an original painting by artist Emily Ward.
Emily has painted these traditional thatched dwellings nestled behind the traditional Scottish heather with her colourful splashes of paint. Soft gentle purple tones cast a warming glow over this painting.

Gearrannan Blackhouses, Isle of Lewis
These ancient homes were shared by both animals, people and smoke from the peat fire. People tended to live at one end and the aniamals partitioned off at the other end. They would however share the same door. Grains and other produce was also stored in part of the blackhouse.
