The impressive George Square is at the heart of Glasgow's city centre. There are six public squares in the city centre.
Completed in 1787, it took two decades of work to construct the square. George Square was named after King George III, although he does not feature in the 12 statues that stand proud in the square.
The impressive City Chambers was opened by Queen Victoria in 1888. There is more marble in the city chambers than the Vatican.
