Giant's Causeway
Giant's Causeway lies at the foot of the basalt cliffs along the sea coast in County Antrim on the northern coast of Northern Ireland. The UNESCO site
is about three miles northeast of the town of Bushmill.
Giant's Causeway is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, which resulted from an ancient volcanic fissure eruption.
The dramatic sight has inspired legends of giants striding over the sea to Scotland. Celebrated in the arts and in science, it has been a visitor attraction for at least 300 years and has come to be regarded as a symbol for Northern Ireland.
