The Giant's Causeway is situated at the foot of the basalt cliffs located in County Antrim on the north coast of Northern Ireland. The Giant's Causeway is an area with about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, which are the result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption. Formed 60 million years ago is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The setting is a spectacular, dynamic coastal landscape of Atlantic waves, rugged cliffs, fascinating geographical antiquity, secluded bays and magnificent views.
Legend and local folklore give the causeway it's powerful name. It is said to be the work of giants. Home to Irish giant Finn MacCumhaill's he built it as a path to use as stepping stones to reach the island of Staffa in Scotland and his enemy the Scottish giant Benandonner. Benandonner reacted to this and ripped the path up which resulted in Giant's Causeway.
