Hadrian’s Wall is situated near to the border between Scotland and England, the majority of what remains of the wall is in the scenic county of Northumberland. The wall runs west for 73 miles from Wallsend near Newcastle on the River Tyne to Bowness on the Solway Firth.
Walltown Crags is between Birdoswald Fort and Housesteads Roman Fort and is renowned for its dramatic views and landscape. Roman Forts, excavation sites, Bath Houses and ancient temples are scattered along the ancient Roman Wall.
Housesteads is the best-known fort on Hadrian's Wall and receives 10,000 visitors each year. The fort stands in dramatic isolation, perched high up on the side of the hill, and provides spectacular views across Northumberland.
