Hadrian's Wall Original Painting
Hadrian's Wall is a lovely new scenic original painting by North East artist Emily Ward from her Northumberland portfolio.
The ancient stone remains of Hadrian's wall stretch across the rich grassy rolling hills of Northumberland on Emily Ward's original painting. The craggy cliff side can be seen disappearing into the small peaceful lake.
Vibrant pretty little yellow and red flowers grow wildly in front of the remains of the watchtower adding a splash of colour to this calming original painting.

Hadrian’s Wall in the North of England runs through the three counties of Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and Cumbria. It runs from Segedunum in Wallsend to Bowness on Solway and is 73 miles long.
The ancient stone wall was built under the command of Emperor Hadrian. He traveled extensively throughout Europe looking to make improvements to its defenses and to consolidate the borders. Hadrian ordered the wall to be built in AD 122 and it took around 15,000 men six years to complete.
There is only about 10% of the original wall remaining today.
The visitor center at The Sill , National Landscape Discovery Museum is a perfect place to start exploring the stunning Northumberland National Park.
Original Painting
All original paintings are made by Emily Ward herself. They are painted on a special heavyweight board or on a white canvas.
Emily’s paintings are often mixed media. She tends to use acrylic paints which are quick drying. She often uses tissue paper mixed with PVA to make a base for her paintings. The base is often scrunched up which adds extra texture and gives a natural finish to her painting.
Emily will also use other media such as charcoal, inks and pastels on her paintings.
To finish the paintings Emily often, but not always, adds a rich clear resin. The resin has a high gloss finish which is very shiny. The resin also acts as a protective layer for the painting.
Frames for Original Paintings
All frames are made locally in the North East. They come in a variety of styles and sizes. The frames tend to be Black or White. Most of the styles are photographed and added to each web description for the customer to see.
Mount Board for Original Paintings
Emily will often frame the paintings with a good quality mount board. The colour of the mount board is usually Antique White.
