The Duke of Cambridge declared the Royal Baths open in 1897. The home of the Turkish baths in the spa town of Harrogate was popular with Queen Victoria's granddaughters and attracted high society in its heyday.
Water was pumped to the baths from various different springs. It is said that treatments were offered to heal various conditions including rheumatism, sciatic and arthritis.
