Hexham Abbey is a Grade I listed place of Christian worship that is dedicated to St Andrew. It is situated in the market town of Hexham in Northumberland.
The Abbey was originally built in AD 674, and was built up during the 12th century into its current form.
The current church largely dates from c.1170–1250, and was built in the Early English Gothic style of architecture. The choir, north and south transepts and the cloisters, where canons studied and meditated, all date from this period.
Each ceramic tile is made from an original painting by North East Artist Emily Ward.

There is a cork backing on each tile and each tile is individually wrapped in a cellophane bag.
