Holy Island framed ceramic tile was beautifully painted by North East local artist Emily Ward. As one of Emily’s favourite places, this painting perfectly captures the mystery and beauty of the castle.
The use of deep blue shades in the sea contrasts with the light purple sky, indicating a nearby sunrise. The fact that the castle looks as though it is on an island represents the power of the sea, and also the island becoming inaccessible twice a day!
About Holy Island
Also known as Lindisfarne, Holy Island is a gorgeous and mysterious island including an ancient priory, a castle and many tourist attractions. The island used to be the home of St Cuthbert, who held the power of spiritual healing. The Priory has a vast history including being the epicentre of Christianity in Anglo Saxon times, and being ransacked by Vikings.
Holy Island is still a place of pilgrimage today and a final destination of many walking tours. To view this painting of Holy Island and any more North East paintings by Emily Ward, view HERE.
Ceramic Framed Tile
Each Framed Tile is hand finished by North East Artist Emily Ward. So although your ceramic framed tile is actually a print, no two tiles are identical. Emily hand finishes the tiles by adding extra paint to the ceramic tile.
The framed tile appears as if it is floating inside the frame.
Frames are available in White and Black Frames.
Each frame is 27 x 27 x 5cm
Colours may vary as each tile is printed individually.
