Lindisfarne Priory - Framed Ceramic Tile
Lindisfarne Priory framed ceramic tile perfectly captures the mystery and beauty of the island and it’s ruins. Painted by local North East artist Emily Ward, this tile would look lovely in any room of your home.
Shadowing arches and pillars create an eerie feel to this painting, in contrast to the uplifting sky. Shades of blue and purple have been used to illuminate the clouds and cast warmth and light onto the ruins. The Rainbow Arch is also shown in the painting, one of the priory’s most dramatic features.
About Lindisfarne Priory
Lindisfarne or Holy Island as it is also known, is a secluded island which becomes inaccessible twice a day. The Priory ruins were claimed directly from the early monastery, once the centrepoint of Christianity. Northumbrian King Oswald granted an Irish monk the tidal island, as well as the monastery or now priory.
Vikings were also a key part of Lindisfarne’s history as they raided the island as their first important attack on western Europe. Monks who lived there then decided to leave and did a pilgrimage carrying St Cuthbert’s coffin, which is now enshrined in Durham Cathedral.

Ceramic Framed Tile
Each Framed Tile is hand finished by North East Artist Emily Ward. So although your ceramic framed tile is actually a print, no two tiles are identical. Emily hand finishes the tiles by adding extra paint to the ceramic tile.
The framed tile appears as if it is floating inside the frame.
Frames are available in White and Black Frames.
Each frame is 27 x 27 x 5cm
Colours may vary as each tile is printed individually.
