The bright morning sun shines brightly over this landmark in Newcastle. The golden sun looks like a halo around the tall tower which creates a feeling of warmth.

Newcastle Cathedral has 900 years worth of history. The cathedral is named after Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors and boats. This probably was due to its location on the River Tyne. It was also built close to the line of Hadrian’s Wall that runs through Newcastle.
The windows in St George’s Chapel has images that represents Tyneside’s industries of coal, iron and shipbuilding that were prominent in the 1900’s and first half of the twentieth century.
