Newcastle Cathedral Framed Ceramic Tile

Newcastle Cathedral framed ceramic tile has been designed from original art by North East artist Emily Ward. All ceramic tiles are printed and hand pressed in Emily's art studio, where she hand finishes every tile.

The bright golden morning sun shines brightly with the glaze of the ceramic tile on Emily's art of St Nicholas Cathedral in Newcastle. The swirl of the sun blends into the soft blues of the sky.

The intricate towers, arched windows and clock tower are emphasized with warm earthy tones that have a hint of orange radiating over them.

Newcastle Cathedral

Newcastle Cathedral has 900 years worth of history. The cathedral is named after Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors and boats. This probably was due to its location on the River Tyne. It was also built close to the line of Hadrian’s Wall that runs through Newcastle.

The windows in St George’s Chapel have images that represents Tyneside’s industries of coal, iron and shipbuilding that were prominent in the 1900’s and first half of the twentieth century.

Ceramic Framed Tile

Each Framed Tile is hand finished by North East Artist Emily Ward. So although your ceramic framed tile is actually a print, no two tiles are identical. Emily hand finishes the tiles by adding extra paint to the ceramic tile.

The framed tile appears as if it is floating inside the frame.
