The bright golden morning sun shines brightly on Emily's art postcard of St Nicholas Cathedral in Newcastle. The swirl of the sun blends into the soft blues of the sky.
The intricate towers, arched windows and clock tower are emphasized with warm earthy tones that have a hint of orange radiating over them..

The Cathedral Church of St Nicholas, known as Newcastle Cathedral , is a Grade I listed building.
Originally founded in 1091 around the same time as the castle nearby. Fire destroyed the Norman church in 1216. The current building was completed in 1350 and was heavily restored in 1777.
The church was given cathedral status in 1882 the same day Newcastle Upon Tyne became a city.
The tower is known for its unusual 15th century lantern spire and for hundreds of years was a main navigation point for ships using the River Tyne.
