Pembroke Castle framed ceramic tile has been designed from original art by North East artist Emily Ward. All ceramic tiles are printed and hand pressed in Emily's art studio, where she hand finishes every tile.
Emily has captured the beauty of Pembroke Castle on this framed ceramic tile. The colours look lovely with the glaze of the tile. The Grade I listed Norman Castle has a warming glow from the gentle tones of purples that fill the skyline.
The foreground is alive with vibrant splashes of color, representing wildflowers in shades of pink, purple, yellow, and white, which create a cheerful meadow effect.

The first Pembroke Castle was built in 1093 by Earl Roger of Montgomery. It was a timber structure to hold back counter attacks against the Welsh from the Normans after the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
The castle was rebuilt in stone in the 12th century; a lot of the structure remains today.
Henry VII, founder of the Tudor Dynasty, was born at Pembroke Castle in 1957. He was father to the infamous Henry VIII and grandfather to Queen Elizabeth I.
Pembroke Castle is the largest privately owned castle in Wales and is open to the public.
