Poppies in the Sunshine Bone China Cup has been designed from an original painting by local North East artist Emily Ward.
Emily's art bone china cup is of a beautiful display of vibrant poppies covering the fields that disappear off into the horizon.
The bright yellow sunshine casts a golden glow throughout the sky which twinkles over the field of poppies.

The name poppy comes from an Old English word 'popig', which derives from the Latin word Papaver. Poppies are best known for their vibrant red colour but they can be found in many other shades.
The red poppy became associated with peace and sacrifice after world war 1 broke out in Western Europe. Amidst all the bleakness of the battlegrounds the resilient bright red Flanders poppy grew amongst chaos and destruction.
