Poppies in the Sunshine postcard is from an original painting by local artist Emily Ward.
This delightful art postcard is vibrant with the striking red of the poppies shining bright under a glowing sun. The sun filled yellow sky adds a dreamy feel to this art postcard.

The poppy is one of the few flowers that has played an important role in medicine, religion, mythology and politics. The poppy symbolises different meanings to many different cultures. In the West it is a traditional flower of remembrance and consolation and in the East it symbolises success and love.
In the spring of 1915, Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, a Canadian doctor was so moved by the sight of the red poppies that he wrote the famous poem 'In Flanders Fields'. He wrote this shortly after losing a friend in Ypres.
