Souter Lighthouse Bone China Cup is from original artwork by local North East artist Emily Ward.
Emily's art shows this striking red and white hooped lighthouse, as the sun is setting. There is a lovely glow of relaxing lilacs and purples over it.
The warm tones Emily has used in her trademark brushstrokes and splashes certainly bring an uplifting feel to this pretty lighthouse in South Shields.

An iconic landmark in South Tyneside on the North East coast, Souter lighthouse was opened in 1871. Standing proud over the rugged coastline, Souter Lighthouse was the first lighthouse in the world to be built to use alternating electric current; this was very advanced technology for its day.
The lighthouse was decommissioned in 1988 and is now managed by The National Trust.
