Studley Royal Water Garden along with Fountains Abbey is a designated World Heritage Site. The National Trust estate is situated near Ripon in Yorkshire.
This 800 acre site features the largest Cistercian abbey ruins in Europe, 18th century landscaped gardens, and a Jacobean mansion.
The beautiful Georgian water garden at Studley Royal was developed in the 18th century by John Aislabie, and his son William. John was the Chancellor of the Exchequer between 1718–21.
The Aislabies created stunning water features, garden buildings and vistas, and the water garden survives now much as it was on William Aislabie’s death in 1781.
