The Major Oak, Sherwood Forest Keyring

The Major Oak, Sherwood Forest keyring has been designed from original art by North East artist, Emily Ward. The keyring is printed and hand pressed in Emily's art studio.

Emily's art of the Major Oak has clusters of pretty little pink flowers encircling it's ancient roots. The splash of colour from the dainty flowers adds a warming contrast to the massive gnarled branches which spread wide.

The bright green leaves shimmer with hints of sunlight on this lovely art keyring.

The Major Oak, Sherwood Forest

The Major Oak is a large English oak tree in Sherwood Forest near the village of Edminstowe in Nottinghamshire.

The Major Oak has also been referred to as the Queen Oak and Robin Hood’s Oak.

At the heart of Sherwood’s legend, Robin and his merry men defended the rights of the poor, fooled the law and hid out amongst the forest’s famous oaks. The legend has constantly been adapted since the late medieval age, but has always endured.

The world famous oak is at least a 1000 years old, with branches spreading up to 92 feet (28m). It weighs an estimated 23 tons and has a trunk circumference of 33 feet (10m).
