The Shambles
Shambles or The Shambles
as it is often referred to, is a narrow street in the city centre of York in North Yorkshire. The Shambles has a long and interesting past and dates back to Medieval times. It was originally a street full of butchers shops specialising in different meats and some shops still display a meat hook outside their shop front.
Today the Shambles is one of Europe's most visited street, with it's cobbled street and overhanging buildings.
