Tommy Statue in Seaham Artwork and Gifts
Emily's breathtaking portrayal of a poignant metal memorial from the first World War. Affectionately known as Tommy in the community, this statue is adorned with vibrant poppies that carry deep meaning. Under the red glow of the sun, casting dramatic shadows over the hills and fields, Tommy stands as a powerful symbol.
A Tribute to Tommy Statue
Located on the Green at Seaham's seafront, this remarkable 9ft high statue was crafted by local artist Ray Lonsdale. Initially named '1101' to commemorate the Armistice signed at 11am on November 11, 1918, this WW1 tribute was intended as a temporary installation. However, thanks to the community's generous support and fundraising efforts, the statue has become a permanent fixture near the town's War Memorial.
