Tower of Refuge fridge magnet has been designed by Emily Ward, an artist from the North East. This art fridge magnet is locally hand pressed in Emily's art studio.
The evening sky shimmers with hints of purples over this historic RNLI landmark on Emily's art fridge magnet.
Waves lap over the little island sending sea spray over the tower. You can imagine how this refuge must have been in real stormy seas.

The Tower of Refuge in Douglas Bay on the Isle of Man was completed in 1832.
A bronze plaque on the Tower dated May 1932 reads "in grateful memory of Sir William Hillary, the founder of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution who 100 years ago erected this Tower on the St Marys Rock as a warning to all sea craft and as a refuge in case of shipwreck".
The partially submerged reef that the landmark tower stands on, was previously often responsible for the damage and sinking of ships. The tower provided both a visible warning for incoming ships and a refuge for those in distress
