Going across the River Tees, the Transporter Bridge is the longest remaining transporter in the world, the piers are listed grade II. When the bridge first opened, it was red and then was painted blue in 1961.
The bridge has been featured in TV shows and films, such as Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, Billy Elliot and Boys from the Blackstuff. Today, visitors can travel to the top in a glass viewing lift to see the magnificent views.
