Tynemouth Priory - Framed Ceramic Tile
Tynemouth Priory framed ceramic tile is an original painting by local North East artist Emily Ward.
Emily has used burnt orange shades to create a sunset behind the medieval castle ruins overlooking the River Tyne. The use of white paint splatters produces a sea spray effect from the North Sea and adds a unique style.
About Tynemouth Priory
Historically, Tynemouth Castle and Priory was one of the largest fortified areas in England, dominating the headland. The Castle has a vast history of over 2000 years, including the Iron Age and WW2. It is located on a rocky headland which overlooks the River Tyne and the North Sea, and was originally built around a Benedictine priory.
Early Northumbrian kings are buried here, and the coat of arms of Tynemouth still includes three crowns which commemorates the Priory’s three kings. The substantial ruins are now part of English Heritage, and are open to visitors.

Ceramic Framed Tile
Each Framed Tile is hand finished by North East Artist Emily Ward. So although your ceramic framed tile is actually a print, no two tiles are identical. Emily hand finishes the tiles by adding extra paint to the ceramic tile.
The framed tile appears as if it is floating inside the frame.
Frames are available in White and Black Frames.
Each frame is 27 x 27 x 5cm
Colours may vary as each tile is printed individually.
