Whitby Abbey is situated on a clifftop on the East Cliff in Whitby, North Yorkshire. This 7th century Christian monastery later became a Benedictine abbey until the abbey and its possessions were confiscated by Henry VIII between 1536 - 1545.
Whitby abbey is steeped in history and the gothic backdrop inspired Bram Stoker in 1890 to create the world famous Dracula.
